I also tried plugging in the jack without the adapter into the microphone slot same issue (I tried all slots on my tower by the way). The headphone portion is working splendid. I have also played with volume boost settings. The microphone picks up noise sometimes but it is all static, no sound of my voice.

I have uninstalled/ reinstalled the drivers, Windows 10 was just installed so I cannot really roll back the updates, have an adapter to split the input/output into my pc, and have tested the mic on my phone (it works on my phone). I recently got a headset with a microphone, and am having major issues.
